COVID-19 Key Indicators Report
Our latest quarterly report on COVID-19 key indicators is now on our website, with a summary of notable highlights.
To track the impacts of COVID-19 on older people aged 65 years and over and older workers aged 50 years and over, we are monitoring a small set of key short-term indicators. This is the fourth report we have published.
Among the findings, this report showed the total income support for recipients aged 50+ have increased and remain elevated as a result of COVID-19, mainly driven by a jump in Jobseeker Work Ready rates since March 2021. This is in line with trends in the total adult population.
Indicators of material hardship, loneliness and discrimination have not changed significantly for those aged 65+ throughout the pandemic and remain moderately lower than for the total adult population. There also does not appear to be any change in the rates at which potential elder abuse is reported to the national helpline service as a result of COVID-19.
