International Day of Older Persons
1 October marks the International Day of Older Persons. It has been running for 30 years and is a initiative that is celebrated around the world.
It’s an important day to recognise the positive impact older people make. Older New Zealanders make major contributions to society through a number of ways including volunteer work, transmitting experience and knowledge, helping their families with caring responsibilities, leading businesses and participating in the paid labour force.
In celebration of International Day of Older Persons we have launched our upgraded newsletter.
This year’s theme for the International Day of Older Persons is “Digital Equity for All Ages” highlighting the need for access and meaningful participation in the digital world by older persons.
